Very delicate, perfumed aromas of red cherries, rose petals, hibiscus, blood oranges and graphite. The palate is vibrant and crunchy with finely integrated tannins and bright acidity. This is nervy and focused with high-toned red fruit. 100% whole-cluster fermented. No sulfur added. Very good. Drink or hold.

Vines planted in 2009, 20,000 plants per hectare. Cask sample. Mid gold. Lovely rich fruit (apples, citrus) with fine, zippy acidity. Breadth and quite lush. (MH)

The 2023 Marsannay Clos du Roy includes 100% whole bunch, and those stems are very well-integrated into the black cherry and bilberry fruit. The most sapid of Pataille's 2023s, this has fine delineation and focus. Exquisite tannins frame the palate, giving way to a long and quite intense finish. This should age with style in bottle.
