Tasting notes
(from a ~.55 ha holding). A spicy and earthy dark berry fruit nose is both cool and airy. The medium-bodied flavors possess a similar mouthfeel, which is to say vibrant and rich, while displaying equally good length on the youthfully austere bitter pit fruit-inflected finale that is just a bit firmer. This too is worth a look.

From vines situated to the north of Nuits and the south of Vosne – frontier country. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Quite ripe red cherries on the nose and deeper, richer fruit on the palate than the Vosne-Romanée. Assured personality and depth. Medium-bodied with elegant, fresh acidity. A touch of more apparent tannins than the village Vosne, but in no way hard or brutal. (MH)
The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Lavières is understated on the nose, with a mixture of red and black fruit, rose petals and light blueberry scents. This is Vosne-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied and lightly spiced with finely spun tannins and a touch of cracked black pepper. This is an animated Aux Lavières that I feel might shade the previous vintage. It's very fine, very nuanced.
