Now this is really complex and well settled! Deep-flavoured and beautifully balanced. Not cheap but it should be rewarding in the long term. (JR)

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur 1er Cru is missing the delineation I found on the 2022, though it still offers attractive brambly red fruit mixed with forest floor and spice box scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins on the entry, more black fruit than the La Justice and a healthy dose of black pepper on the finish. This is promising, but the aromatics just need to pull their socks up.
