Tasting notes
Like its stablemates, Mugnier's 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses is so open and expressive that it will be difficult to resit in its youth. Bursting from the glass with notes of raspberries, rose petals, exotic spices and citrus oil, it's medium- to full-bodied, suave and seamless, with beautiful purity of fruit, melting tannins and a broad, sapid finish.

Cask sample. Luminescent mid ruby. Sweet red-berry fruit. Feather-light tannins and lacy, graceful acidity. Good concentration and depth. Profound fruit. Not immediately as singing as some iterations, but then a great, savoury explosion on the finish. It suddenly blossoms. (MH)
The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has an open bouquet with red berry fruit and touches of brown spice, but it's missing the complexity of some of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and well balanced with fine tannins, although it may be missing a little grip. There is a touch of dryness toward the finish. I must admit to being unconvinced by what all intents and purposes comes across as an earlier-drinking Les Amoureuses, particularly when juxtaposed against the far better 2022 at the domaine.
