There are once again two barrels of the 2023 Musigny Grand Cru, which Roumier chose to vinify without any destemming. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, damask rose, orange zest and spices, it's full-bodied, pure and layered, with a dense, cool core of fruit, ultra-refined tannins and a long, perfumed finish. As usual, it shows a greater sense of density and restraint than the more flamboyant Amoureuses.

100% whole clusters. 50% new oak. Cask sample. Dark-mid ruby. Serious deep red- and black-fruit nose. A grind of pepper and spice. Lovely, rich fruit on the palate. Concentrated without heaviness. Feather-light but ripe tannins. Serious, noble and rather classic. Aristocratic. (MH)

The 2023 Musigny Grand Cru comprises two barrels this year—hooray! There's none in 2024, not even a berry—boo! Blended with 100% whole bunches, the stems come through quite strongly on the nose. After a few minutes, they become subsumed into the brambly red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with berry fruit, touches of blood orange and gentle grip with lovely focus. It doesn't quite have the complexity of the Bonnes-Mares this year, but it is a lovely Musigny.
