(Sweet Spot)<br /> A more deeply pitched and decidedly earthier nose features aromas of plum, forest floor and plenty of sauvage character. There is excellent vibrancy to the bigger-bodied and more powerful flavors that possess a succulent mid-palate that contrasts moderately with the robust, mildly rustic and sneaky long finish. This is excellent with the development potential to match.

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru is more backward on the nose compared to Grivot's other wines from the appellation. Its bouquet features dark berry fruit, earthy tones and a touch of ceps. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly lactic texture. It's quite smooth, with just a faint touch of fig, but there's good body and gentle grip toward the toasty finish. This is a fine Nuits Saint-Georges, but in this instance, I prefer the previous vintage.

More crimson than ruby. There is quite some generosity of plump ripe fruit on the nose. There are different layers here, a softer strawberry on top of a more concentrated core of dark raspberry. A very light trace of the salinity found elsewhere. Full bodied enough to be very satisfying. Drink from 2031-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.

Cask sample. Mid-pale ruby. Reduction again – these could do with some air. Nevertheless, good breadth and volume and packed with red fruit. Moderate acidity, good volume and length. Will flourish. (MH)
