2023 Charmes Chambertin

The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is beautiful, bursting with aromas of raspberries, orange zest, burning embers, spices and violets. Medium to full-bodied, layered and dense, with a textural core of fruit framed by sweet, creamy tannins, it concludes with a long, spicy finish.

In the Mazoyères section. 80% whole bunch. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Sweet red-cherry nose. Mirrored on the palate with ripe texture and very supple, soft tannins. Fresh acidity offers good definition leading on to a long, dry finish. Above all, rounded and luxuriant. Quite graceful. (MH)

The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a well-defined bouquet of vibrant red and black fruit, with quite a potent marine influence coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins, again, notably marine-like with a touch of brine. That said, it does not quite deliver the precision of the Ruchottes-Chambertin by comparison.
