Tank sample. Mid ruby. Red-cherry and strawberry nose, quite rounded and full-bodied on the palate. Sweet raspberry and a little cassis on the palate. Crisp acidity and some sustained but powdery tannins. Good length, clean, fresh and quite elegant. (MH)
There is only one cuvée from the Gevrey appellation in 2023, as Amélie Berthaut decided to blend fruit from Combe de Dessus with La Burie. So, the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has an airy bouquet with fresh red cherries and wild strawberry scents—not powerful, though well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red fruit, fine-boned tannins and a brisk, easy-drinking finish. It is a thoroughly enjoyable and unpretentious Gevrey Village.
