Tank sample. Hand-picked 8–14 September. Fermented and aged in 60% stainless steel, 40% oak barrels (10% new) for 10 months. I rather like this talc-dust nose. Gentle, pretty, well-formed fruit. Orchard in spring. White and soft greens. Soft citrus. (TC)
The 2023 Bourgogne Côte d’Or Chardonnay Secret de Famille sees 40% of the fruit aged in oak barrels for ten months. It has a rocksteady bouquet, with dried honey and orchard fruit unfurling on the nose. The palate has good weight and presence, the acidity keeping things sufficiently fresh. This isn't overly complex, but it displays clean fruit. A welcome dab of lemongrass perks up the finish.
A fresh lemon and lime with a really attractive racy chardonnay character along with a touch of lime blossom. A little more orchard fruit on the palate, the correct amount of oak, and a balanced long finish. Finesse more than bulk.
About the producer
Although the Bichot family settled in the region in 1350, Albert Bichot was founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot. Today the producer is one of Burgundy’s most respected, making wines from both its own vineyards and with purchased fruit.
