The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru is pure and pretty, delivering aromas of sweet raspberries, cherries and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, bright and mineral palate, concluding with a perfumed finish. As usual, the blend is mainly composed of domaine fruit.
Rich fresh purple, quintessential Chambolle elegance, really fine as this cuvée so often is chez Drouhin. Perhaps even more sensual than usual in 2023, stretching out to a very long finish. Picked at the right time, ripe but not overdone.
Cask sample. Right from the first nanosecond, the balance of this wine is there: à point. A dancer. Exquisite control. Everything just right . Scarlet fruit cutting through crimson tannins. Just enough chew and tug and traction to hold you, to make you pause. Just enough cherry and wild strawberry to make you want to wipe the dripping juice from your chin. Modest, understated, just bitter enough that it feels like a love bite. So, so good. (TC)
About the producer

Joseph Drouhin is one of the largest and most famous producers in Burgundy, making both domaine and négociant wines. It remains family-owned and run, now in the hands of the fourth generation.
