Tasting notes
The 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles delivers aromas of cherries, raspberries, baking chocolate and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and layered palate. This shows good structure and aging potential.

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru will be the last time this cuvée is produced by Bouchard Père before it goes on a "free transfer" to Domaine d'Eugénie. Blackcurrant and light cassis scents emerge on the nose. Perhaps this doesn't quite translate the complexity I find in the best Côte de Beaune cuvées. The palate is ripe and rounded with fine acidity, good depth and grip. Its lightly spiced, although it doesn't possess the nervosité and energy of the best reds this year.
Rich dark centre purple rim. Inky depths here, powerful stuff especially at the front of the palate, very dark raspberry, less concentrated finish. More rain in the Côte de Nuits says Frédéric, so we needed to make a drastic green harvest.
