Tasting notes
Alexandrine Roy's 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice is a great success in this vintage, soaring from the glass with a superb bouquet of plums, cassis, black raspberry, peony, rich soil and subtle notes of licorice and anise. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, velvety and vibrant, with an ample chassis of supple tannin, a deep core of sapid fruit, and a long, precise finish. The balance here is excellent.

Cask sample. Deep cherry red. Dark, ripe, almost leathery – but clean and fresh. Very savoury on the palate, spicy and firm. A definite style that is less fragrant than is typical for the 2015s but all in balance in that dark-fruited style. Again, needs time. (JH)
