Very pale copper colour. Delightfully evolved, 'burnished' nose on a wine that tastes far, far more than a year older than the 2015. Great balance between rich fruit and acidity. No astringency. Pure and pungent. Quite complex with notes of green almonds. (JR)

The 2014 Clos de Mosny is at a wonderful stage in its evolution, throwing off the primary fruit of youth for a more savory, nutty character, reminiscent of almond meal and lanolin. And yet it's still not mature, with nectarine and pear tatin flavors holding on like a remnant of its earliest days. It is succulent yet serious with a fine line that runs through it like an arrow. The finish is a touch salty, and it would be nice to have a little more length. Blot purchased this vineyard in 2011; this is one of the earlier examples of his interpretation of site, and it's pretty impressive. Delectable now, but it will be lovely over the next five years.

A 12-ha monopole and a 2-ha parcel in the heart of the vineyard goes into this wine. Cool, creamy and restrained. Tighter, and tastes drier than the Clos de la Bretonnière. Silky and intense but elegant too with ripe pear and apple hints. Deep and subtle rather than broad or fat. (JH)
