Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2022-2040, Neal Martin, Jan 2020

The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Plantes 1er Cru is the first release from the domaine, from 60-year-old vines whose fruit was hitherto sold off. Raised with 40% whole-bunch fruit, it has an attractive floral bouquet featuring red cherry, wild strawberry and crushed chalk aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, well-judged acidity and a vivid, energetic, sorbet-fresh finish. Superb. Just two barrels this year.
