The 2014 Cadet-Bon is silky, layered and sumptuous on the palate, with notable textural breath. The expressive, open-knit finish suggests the 2014 will drink well with minimal cellaring. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It's going to very interesting to see what consulting winemaker Frédéric Massie of Stéphane Derenoncourt's team does in turning Cadet-Bon around.

A Stéphane Derenoncourt wine. Peppery, energetic nose. Very fresh and dry. Positively bracing. Really dry and austere on the end. But fairly light bodied so I don’t see it being a long-term wine. (JR)
