Tasting notes
This estate continues to make a beautiful Saint-Emilion, and their 2019 Château Cadet-Bon is well worth seeking out. Pretty cassis and black cherry fruits as well as exotic flowers, graphite, and spice all emerge on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, has wonderful purity, a balanced, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. It's already hard to resist, yet I see no reason it won't evolve gracefully for 15 to 20 years if stored correctly.

From an estate next to Soutard, the 2019 Cadet-Bon exhibits aromas of cherries, sweet berries and rich cassis mingled with licorice and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fruit-driven, with lively acids and plenty of ripe tannin, it's a powerful, rather extracted Saint-Émilion that exhibits some interest.
The 2019 Cadet-Bon is wonderfully immediate. It balances the forward character of the vintage with a good deal of freshness from its limestone-rich soils. I won't be surprised if the 2019 turns out even better than this note suggests. There is terrific character and personality here. Dark plum, licorice, chocolate and cedar linger.
