Tasting notes
The 2020 Saint-Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru has a little more oak on the nose compared to its peers, but it is simpatico with the fruit, and there seems to be some mineralité that will develop with time in bottle. It's pretty Puligny-leaning in style, in a good sense. The palate is well-balanced with good concentration. It's spicy compared to its peers and has just a touch of glycerin towards the finish. With a touch of exoticism on the aftertaste, I find the clementine and mango notes appealing. Very fine. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

A brilliant effort, the 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien unwinds in the glass with aromas of crisp orchard fruit, citrus oil, almond paste, fresh croissants and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless, with a taut, concentrated core, racy acids and a long, penetrating finish, its proximity to the top crus of Puligny and Chassagne is apparent.
This is also moderately reduced and while the middle weight flavors are not quite as concentrated, they are finer with a lovely minerality adding a sense of lift to the solidly powerful, youthfully austere and lingering finale that, at least at present, isn't quite as complex though that of course may well change in time.
