This blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc needs to be richer and more intense, but it is still an attractive, mid-weight Pomerol to drink in its first 10-12 years of life. Some toasty oak, licorice, roasted herbs and sweet black cherry and black currant fruit are present in this wine, which comes from a vineyard that has unlimited potential, it seems to me. Drink it over the next decade. From proprietor Philippe Casteja, this wine, which comes from a fabulous terroir, has slightly underperformed in 2010. My in-the-bottle tasting notes conform closely to what I saw from barrel.

Solid with some freshness and very Cabernet build. Racy and dry – claret! (JR)
