Score 92+/100 · Drink 2023-2032, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2015
Bright, dark red-ruby. Inviting nose combines blackberry, licorice, violet and sexy brown spices, plus a whiff of animal fur and a minty accent. Sharply delineated but much less forthcoming today than the Coeur de Roi, with its crushed dark fruit flavors coming across as fine-grained but a bit youthfully severe today. Finishes tight and classically dry but not hard. This one will need patience but holds out terrific potential.
