Tasting notes
Leading off the 2021 Condrieu, the 2021 Condrieu Les Chaillees De L'Enfer is brilliant stuff, with a pure, crystalline nose of white peach, apricots, and honeyed flowers. It has a beautiful sense of minerality on the palate, medium-bodied richness, terrific density and depth, and just a beautiful overall layered, seamless, balanced profile. I love it today, but it will ideally be given just a year or two and enjoyed through 2031.

Cropped at a minuscule 8 hl/Ha, the 2021 Condrieu Les Chaillées de L'Enfer is delicious. Prominent apricot, ripe pear, peach, honeysuckle, melon and banana are all nicely delineated. Medium- to full-bodied, this exuberant 2021 captures sufficient freshness to balance out its pronounced flavor concentration. This should drink splendidly right out of the gate.

A legendary name, Domaine Georges Vernay crafts some of the finest whites in the world, having championed Condrieu when it was on the brink of extinction. The estate is best known for its single-site Coteau de Vernon Condrieu and is now in the hands of the third and fourth generation of the family.
