The 2005 Château La Croizille is impressive, with a big, rich, concentrated style that brings lots of ripeness yet also balance and purity. Cassis, graphite, tobacco smoke, and scorched earth notes all emerge on the nose, and it has velvety tannins as well as a good sense of freshness. It’s a beautiful wine that’s mature yet has another decade of longevity.

The 2005 La Croizille is redolent of dark cherry, plum, chocolate, spice, new leather and licorice. Juicy and exuberant to the core, the 2005 will drink well for another decade or more. This decidedly flamboyant Saint-Émilion has no hard edges and tons of pure charm. Sweet tobacco, cedar, incense and mocha linger.

Mid crimson. Low-key slightly mossy nose. Classic claret structure on the palate – definitely traditional build. Still some very slightly dry tannins. Keep this wine! [An overperformer.] (JR)
