Tasting notes
The 2020 Volnay Taillepieds 1er Cru feels a little unclean on the nose, just a touch of pyrazine from perhaps some stressed vines that slightly detracts from the harmony. It needs a little more vigor and harmony. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, crisp and sapid. The 2020 is mineral-driven towards the Earl Grey finish that, like is peers, becomes quite peppery in the glass. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The floral nose of this Volnay 1er Cru has an interesting, biscuity note that pulls you into the richly fruity and supple palate thatâs so easy to enjoy right away. Then, at the long and beautifully crafted finish, you feel the surprisingly solid tannic base behind all the charm. Drink or hold.
The 2020 Volnay Taillepieds 1er Cru, which includes one-third whole bunch, has a well-defined bouquet with raspberry, briary, touches of sous-bois and a hint of oyster shell. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannins. This is very saline with hints of black olive towards the finish. This will be fascinating to watch age in bottle.
