1935 vines. Barrel sample. Gorgeous hints of orange and orange pith on the nose. And a touch of apricot. Ripe but very fresh – from both acidity and texture. Fine grip. Great persistence with rich creamy depths and perfect balance. Ben Leroux suggests this will age 30 years. I am a little more cautious. (JH)

(from 90-year-old vines): Aromas and flavors of yellow peach and spices show a faintly honeyed quality. Concentrated, silky and rich, boasting a wonderfully pliant, mouthfilling texture. This impressively thick, lightly salty premier cru has plenty of structure and power to support its creamy old-vines texture. No new oak was used here. (12.9% alcohol)
