Tasting notes
The 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée 1er Cru has a lovely dried honey and white flower scented bouquet with crushed stone notes developing with aeration. The palate is well balanced with mouthwatering salinity, a fine thread of acidity with orange rind and a touch of quince towards the finish. What a sublime expression of this great Premier Cru. Tasted at the Domaine.

Aromas of lemon oil, melon, wet stones and iodine introduce the 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée, a medium to full-bodied, intensely concentrated wine with tangy, incisive acids, superb depth at the core and a long, searingly mineral finish. This was the least touched by frost of Caillat's holdings, and the wine is very classic in profile.
