Score 90/100 · Drink 2016-2019, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Jun 2016

There is a little more Merseguera in the blend of the 2015 Benimaquía Tinajas, as they used most of the few grapes they could harvest from the Viña de Simón, an extremely old vine that is almost dying and they are in the process of replanting. It might have provided for more aromatic power here, even if the wines show quite similarly, as the process is very strong and tends to mark the profile of nose and palate. A different take on a Mediterranean orange wine. For fans of the style. There is enough stuffing and dry matter for this wine to have a slow evolution in bottle, but it remains to be seen where they really go. Some 3,800 bottles were produced in this extremely dry vintage, where the zone saw no more than 150 liters of rain.
