Tasting notes
Taut and introspective but full of potential, Barthod's 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes unwinds in the glass with notes of red berries, plums, orange zest and peony. Medium to full-bodied, deep and mineral, with tangy acids and chalky structuring tannins, it concludes with a rose-inflected finish.

Cask sample. Transparent garnet. Complex, echt , introvert nose. And then what tastes like some layers of wood or chestnut so not nearly ready. I’m sure it will come right in the end but it’s not a wine to savour in youth. (JR)
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 1er Cru has slightly darker fruit than its peers, light oyster shells percolating through the black plum and Morello fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain, supple tannins, fleshy with veins of blueberry and cassis on the finish. Very commendable.
