Cru bourgeois supérieur. 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc. Garonne gravel soil, clay-limestone subsoil. Aged for 12–14 months in oak barrels, 40–45% new. 110,000 bottles. Deep purple. Really quite an intense nose. Sweet and bloody and a bit formless for the moment. This has guts and lots of dry tannin and may well eventually provide interesting drinking but for the moment it’s too embryonic to judge. Though the dilute finish does not promise well. (JR)

Full bottle 1,262 g. Certified HVE. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc. A little pinched and peppery and skinny. Very skinny, sinewy, drying tannins. Tastes like penance. (TC)
Red and black cherries, leafy herbs, loamy earth, and leathery nuances all emerge from the 2020 Château Laffitte Carcasset, a medium-bodied, nicely balanced, charming wine that has the structure and depth to keep for a decade.
