Tasting notes
The 2022 Riesling Nackenheimer Rothenberg Spätlese is the wine that once made the estate’s name—it used to be the cornerstone of the portfolio. This was made from the highest parcels of the Rothenberg, where the slope turns away from the Rhine, which is slightly cooler and windier. Fennel, chamomile and lemon unite in a tea-like, ethereal lift, heady and vivid. The palate comes in with gentle sweetness that holds yellow plum compote, with a gorgeous streak of pink grapefruit peel. All this is intense and rounded but oh so tangy and mouthwatering. Zesty and salty at the same time, it’s completely irresistible. There’s such depth of both flavor and savor. Wonderful. (Sweet)

The 2022 Rothenberg Nackenheim Riesling Spätlese opens with a clear, ripe and savory bouquet of tropical fruit and slatey aromas. Lush, light and elegant on the palate, this is a finessed and savory Rothenberg with a saline, highly stimulating, lush and aromatic finish. Absolutely gorgeous. 8% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the domaine in October 2023.
