Tasting notes
Miani’s 2022 Friuli Colli Orientali Malvasia La Mont di Zuc is a delightful white that captures the warmth of the vintage in a creamy, expressive style marked by ripe apricot, baked apple and yellow rose. Malvasia often carries a floral edge, and though that character is subdued here, it still lends lift and brightness to this medium-bodied wine. Grown in the hilly Colli Orientali zone of Friuli, where cool Alpine influences temper the ripening season, the wine also shows pretty mineral tones and a slightly reductive character from lees aging that add dimension and a taut sense of tension.

The 2022 Malvasia La Mont di Zuc is decidedly savory in style as lime zest and green melon give way to rosemary and flint stone. Elegant and nearly weighty in feel, it presents a glycerol wave of mineral-infused pit fruits that flow across the palate while a twang of vibrant acidity adds cheek-pinching tension. Despite its sheer size and opulence, the 2022 finishes incredibly fresh and clean, leaving a steely sensation and a hint of confectionary spice.
