Score 91/100 · Drink 2020-2030, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Oct 2021
From a south-facing parcel in Les Poyeux with 45-year-old vines on loamy limestone soils, the 2015 Saumur Champigny La Marginale opens with an intense yet fine, fresh and mineral bouquet of perfectly ripe dark berries along with some discreet nougat and characteristic earthy aromas. Silky, lush and smooth on the palate, this is an elegant, charming and well-balanced Cabernet Franc with fine tannins and mineral freshness. Great finesse and purity here. The finish is stunningly long but everything is subtle, fresh and delicate here, nothing up front. Highly finessed. Made with 50% whole clusters and aged for 18-24 months in oak vats from 228 to 2,400 liters.
