Tasting notes
Fleshy, more alcohol evident here. Attractive, generous on the palate with dark-berry fruit character. Lively acidity and a lingering mineral finish. Long, precise – very good stuff. (AWH)

Already in barrels, the 2022 Chinon Coteau de Noiré, from a south-facing steep slope composed of clay and limestone, is one of the most impressive, refined wines I tasted at this address. Evoking a complex, elegant bouquet of spices, pencil lead, licorice, dark wild berries and cedar, it’s full-bodied, ample and enveloping with a textural attack, a layered, fleshy core of fruit structured around powdery, sweet tannins and bright acids, concluding with a long, mineral and ethereal finish. It could evolve gracefully and more harmoniously with time in the cellar.
