Tasting notes
A blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc from more gravelly, sandy soils and aged 16 months in 35% new French oak with the balance in neutral barrels, foudre, and amphora, the 2023 Château La Tour Figeac is a solid wine offering mostly red (there’s some black) fruit, camphor, loamy soils, and some spicy, tobacco nuances. I love its balance on the palate, and it's medium-bodied, with soft, integrated tannins, loads of charm and character, and outstanding length. Drink bottles over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2026-2038.

The 2023 La Tour Figeac is just as impressive as it was en primeur . Bright and vibrant in the glass, with terrific energy, the 2023 has so much to offer. Blood orange, crushed rocks, mint, white pepper and bright saline notes race across the palate. I especially admire its tension and energy. Terrific.
The 2023 La Tour Figeac has an understated bouquet, but one that is quite well-defined and elegant, brambly red fruit with cedar and bay leaf. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, fresh and vibrant with a creamy, focused and quite delicious finish. This is the best La Tour Figeac in recent years and comes highly recommended.
Ripe, lightly baked plums and cherries with touches of savory dried herbs and spices on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm, lightly chewy tannins and a juicy, medium-long finish. Juicy. 65% merlot and 35% cabernet franc. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
