The 2013 Côte à Côte is darkly floral and radiant in the glass, wafting up with a refined blend of red currants, rose petals, lavender, pine shavings and dusty earth. It's seamlessly silky with a harmonious inner sweetness as vibrant wild berry fruits cascade across the palate. This tapers off with amazing length, an air of autumnal spice as echoes of lavender slowly fade. The 2013 Côte à Côte is a unique blend, combining 40% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache and 30% Syrah. It really shows the quality of the vintage, L'Aventure's work toward a fresher style.

Opaque ruby. A complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red fruits, smoky Indian spices, vanilla and minerals. Concentrated but lithe on the palate, offering intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors underscored by a suave floral note. The spicy quality comes back emphatically on a long, sweet finish framed by slow-building, harmonious tannins.

A blend of 40% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache and 30% Syrah, the 2013 Cote a Cote is a classic Rhone blend from Paso that has lots of blackberry, cassis, ground pepper and damp earth aromatics, full-bodied richness and both good acidity and tannic grip. Showing more complex floral characteristics and chalky minerality with time in the glass, it can be enjoyed now or cellared for a decade.

The 2013 Côte à Côte stands out for its firm tannin, energy and total class. Dark red plum, smoke, new leather and iron are some of the notes that burst from the glass in this utterly impeccable, racy Paso red. Sweet floral and spiced notes add perfume on the finish. Stephan Asseo has done a remarkable job in expressing the elegant, refined side of the vintage. The 2013 is 39% Mourvèdre, 31% Grenache and 30% Syrah.
