Tasting notes
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Combottes exhibits notes of cherries, grilled squab, dark chocolate and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that's rich and succulent, with a sweet core of ripe fruit and powdery structuring tannins, concluding with a long finish.

A h int of oxidation takes the edge off this sample. Spicy and smoky black fruit, with a flinty core and firm tannins. Pretty good length here. (TJ)
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Combottes 1er Cru includes no whole bunch and is matured entirely in new oak. I have to admit that the 100% new wood dominates the nose and speaks more of the cooperage than the vineyard. The palate is ripe and a little chewy on the entry, the fruit just about able to support the oak, although I cannot help thinking that 50% or 60% new oak would have suited it better.
