Tasting notes
The 2011 Barbaresco Gallina is one of the most powerful wines I remember tasting from Busso. The flavors are dark, bold and incisive, as are the tannins, with spiced, mentholated notes wrap around the expressive, creamy finish. Leather, smoke and tobacco add the final shades of nuance. This is another ample, resonant Barbaresco from Busso, but readers need to give the 2011 another year or two in bottle for the tannins to soften further.

Crushed flowers, anise, mint and worn-in leather meld together in the 2011 Barbaresco Gallina. Floral and surprisingly weightless in the glass, the 2011 is beautifully lifted and perfumed in style. The Gallina is pretty, but it is also a bit forward and fleeting, especially on the finish, perhaps the result of too much time in oak.
