Tasting notes
Verduno. Mid ruby. Serious, concentrated and brooding. Gorgeous, juicy raspberry fruit with a minty touch. Fine, gritty, long-lasting tannins. Much more complex and a real step up from last year’s first vintage, 2019. (WS)

Coming from Verduno, the 2020 Barolo Monvigliero is a bright red/ruby color and offers an expressive, rosy perfume of cranberries, dusty earth, and delicate spices. Medium-bodied, it’s very elegant and graceful on the palate’ with fine tannins, clean, evenly balanced acidity, and a nicely tapered finish. It’s quite appealing now but should have a solid 6-8 years ahead of it.
The 2020 Barolo Monvigliero is a pretty, gracious wine. Dried cherry, mint, spice, crushed rose petal and tobacco lead into a core of bright, red-toned fruit. Medium in body and gracious, the 2020 impresses with its finessed personality and understated persistence. This is very open and nicely done.
Verduno. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Brooding deep cherry nose with a hint of black pepper. Lots of raspberry and cherry fruit on the palate with gritty, but ripe tannins on the finish. A little rich for Monvigliero, but finely balanced. (WS)
