This has intense blueberry and blackberry aromas with deeply spicy nuances, as well as a dark-stony, graphite-like edge. A strong sense of purity here. The palate has a very rich, mouth-coating and concentrated feel with ripe blackberry and blueberry flavors. Statuesque. This is one of the great vintages of this wine and will drink well for another decade at least.

From vines planted in 1893, Kaesler's 2010 Old Bastard Shiraz continues to evolve at a glacial pace. It hints at raspberry and mint on the nose, then delves deep into dark chocolate. Full-bodied, dense and nearly fudge-like in its intensity and perception on the palate, it remains potent and long on the finish.
