Tasting notes
According to Mme. Bize-Leroy, the 1999 Volnay Santenots was harvested at 14.7% natural potential alcohol, with yields of 16 hectoliters per hectare. It has a saturated medium to dark ruby color and reveals rose, violet, and cherry aromas. This is a medium to full-bodied, powerful wine that reveals huge waves of blackberries, cassis, and plums that inundate the taster's palate. It is extremely structured and possesses a firm backbone, yet has the requisite depth of fruit for mid- to long-term cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015. Importer: Martine's Wines, San Raphael, CA; tel. (415) 485-1800.
