Richer and deeper aroma than the Clos le Village. Rich in fruit but not simply fruity. Has depth and richness, full in the mouth even though the tannins are already very smooth. Not quite as charming as the Clos le Village. (JH)

The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Combottes comes from 60-year-old vines and is matured in 50% to 60% new oak. It has a well-defined, seductive bouquet with pure dark cherries and cassis fruit that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet core of black fruit, the oak nicely integrated and lending weight, harmonious with touches of marmalade and orange peel towards the dense finish. Give this several years in bottle and then savor over the next dozen.
