Score 92/100 · Drink 2023-2030, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, Jan 2024

The 2006 Savennieres Clos du Papillonfrom Domaine des Baumard opens with aromas of honey, caramel, spices, butter, watermelon and ripe orchard fruit. It's a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and solar wine with a spicy, saline mid-palate and a pure, expressive finish. In the same qualitative ballpark as the 2003, it’s fresher and more tense, concluding with an elegant bitterness. Keep it another decade. Bottled with a screw-cap closure.

Score 90/100 · Drink 2022-2035, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, Sep 2022

The 2006 Clos du Papillon is made in a relaxed and rounded style with a creamy, silken texture with tarte tatin-like flavors of apple, pastry and honey. Initially the wine was like a teenager, but over time, it has taken on additional complexity. It might not be the most powerful of vintages, but it provides a lot of pleasure and increasing nuance. It's drinking well now and offers savory characters, but thanks to its taut line of acidity, it isn't going anywhere.
