Score 90/100 · Drink 2017-2036, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Dec 2017

The 2016 Rheingau Riesling Schloss Johannisberger Kabinett "Rotlack" is the only Kabinett that has been—and will be—produced at this Domäne. It's in the feinherb style that is between 15 and 21 grams per liter of acidity. The bouquet is coolish, clear, fresh and flinty-aromatic. On the palate, this is a very juicy, round and seductive Kabinett with piquant acidity and stimulating salinity. It's gorgeously lush and sensual. I'd love it even more with a slightly less residual sugar (which is 20.4 grams per liter), but I'm not the market. The Norwegians love it like this (but I'm sure they would go crazy with an even more straight and piquant style...).
