Tasting notes
From a vineyard that has been cultivated since 1276 and based on vines planted in 1969, the 2021 Hochheim Kirchenstück GG VDP.Grosse Lage opens with a pure, saline and dense bouquet with crushed stone aromas. Enormously intense and fine on the palate, this is a full-bodied, refined, elegant and savory Riesling that is bitter on the long, intense and powerful finish. 13% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the domaine in September 2023.

The 2021 Riesling Hochheimer Kirchenstück Grosses Gewächs comes from calcareous loess and loam soils from vines planted in 1969. It opens with ripe Mirabelle, peach skin and intense juiciness. The palate tempers this with an edge of lemon zest that packs a lot of textural pithiness. Vivid concentration is bedded on yeasty richness against a salty, textured and pithy backdrop. The finish is dry and profound. (Bone-dry)
RS 4.7 g/l, TA 6.3 g/l. Complex fruit aromas, wild flowers and rock dust. Delicate citrus palate with lissom nuance and quiet grace. Juicy and concentrated with the cool green-apple and red-fruit crunch of the vintage. Elegant spice and tremendous potential. (PS)
A dark and mysterious wine with a very warm and generous heart! Stunning concentration and richness, too! This doesnât hesitate for a moment, but ploughs straight across your palate like a steam roller. The finish is at once creamy and grounded with a treasure trove of minerality. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
