A little more subdued on the nose than the straight Puligny. But richer, creamier and with a little more obvious oak influence – but well judged in relation to the depth of fruit. Embryonic and a little sweet-sour on the palate. Judging the wines now, I'd go for the less-expensive Puligny, but perhaps this has greater long-term potential? (JH)

The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet La Rousselle has a light, ephemeral, apple-blossom scented nose. The palate is slightly bitter on the entry with sour lemon and orange rind, short and a little hard on the finish.
