Score 92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2007

Good ruby-red color. Wild aromas of black cherry, spice, meat and mint; less exuberant today than the Clos Vougeot. Big, rich and broad but a bit youthfully monolithic; a black hole of a wine today, but with some minerality lurking in the background. This is impressive for its volume and thickness but represents a different style of vinification from Boillot's domain offerings. Here he did more frequent pigeages, then kept the temperature of the must at 32oC for another four days after the end of the fermentation.
