The 2014 Pommard 1er Cru Combes Dessus has a lifted blackberry and raspberry scented bouquet, the aromatics having put on a little weight since I last tasted it from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, tightly-knit and foursquare. As I remarked from barrel, I would have sought a little more fruité and corpulence on the finish...then again, this is Pommard.

Light bright cherry red. More spice than the Volnay village wine. A little peppery and herbal but not stemmy (they don’t include them). Lovely balance here and very smooth and rounded already even if the tannins are present. Fine, firm, dry texture lifted by the pretty red fruit. Again, not very long but lovely harmony. Sophisticated Pommard. (JH)
Less than 0.5 ha in rather a strange place, the only premier cru on the east side of road. 2014 they made 60% of a normal year. Sweet, voluptuous nose. Light and fresh. Light years from the stereotypical tough Pommard. Chewy. (JR)
