Score 96/100 · Drink 2022-2031, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Oct 2024

2019 was a very warm year, and the 2019 Táganan Parcela Margalagua is concentrated, with more color and structure. That year, they went for more extraction and now feel they made a mistake—the wine is smokier and a bit more rustic. 2019 and 2020 were very dry years, and in 2019, they harvested a bit too late. It still has quite a lot of tannin and feels a bit aggressive with higher ripeness. It somewhat reminded me of the 2014, as it is a darker and more structured wine, with notes of iron, fresh meat and steak tartar (from the red basalt). It will be interesting to see how this wine develops in bottle. 1,800 bottles were produced and bottled in December 2020.
