Tasting notes
The 2014 Old Weka Pass Road Pinot Noir has a lovely mellow, slightly smudged red berry fruit nose with touches of soy, leather and tobacco. The palate has coarse tannin on the entry, but there is plenty of rather rustic red fruit that dominates the middle, dovetailing into a lightly spiced, semi-dry finish that suggests bottles should be consumed over the next two or three years. It is a decent Pinot Noir, but it does not have the substance or vigor to suggest ageing potential.

Spicy and savory, with tart cranberry and pomegranate fruit, the 2014 Old Weka Pass Road Pinot Noir is drawn from young vines on the property and other barrels that didn't make the main blend. It's medium-bodied, silky in feel, turning crisp on the finish.
