Tasting notes
The 2016 Vinya La Scala Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva is the top of the single-vineyard bottlings and is now also part of the official vi de finca qualificada category. It has notes of blood, meat and iron denoting some age and the herbal, spicy and peppery character of the variety found in the background. It's polished and silky, with pungent flavors, some dusty tannins and notes of cedar wood and spices in the finish. It matured for at least 24 months in 225-liter French barriques, 57% of them new, and the spicy oak is part of the signature of this wine. 13,150 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2019.

The 2016 Vinya La Scala is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a site planted in 1963. It spent 28 months in French oak barrels. Garnet in hue, it offers aromas of cassis and currant, with oak, spice, undergrowth and balsamic notes. Dry and ample, with plush, fine-grained tannins, this wine exemplifies a classic style. It’s rich and grippy on the palate, delivering a long-lasting, flavorful finish.
