Tasting notes
From a warm and sunny growing season, the Rocche Viberti 2015 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione sources its fruit from Castiglione Falletto, a village pretty much at the center of the greater Barolo appellation. The wine is softly layered and rich, showing a thick level of concentration that is a sure characteristic of this growing season. This Barolo is ample and generous in terms of aromas, with dried cherry, plum, light spice, tar and licorice root.

The 2015 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is powerful and deep in the glass, with little of the sensuality that is such a signature of this Castiglione Falleto site. Succulent dark red cherry, raspberry rose petal and spice all flesh out ample full-bodied Barolo. Time in the glass brings out elements of finesse, but the 2015 needs time to fully unwind. Still, my impression is that there is quite a bit of potential here, both for this wine and more broadly for the estate.
