Tasting notes
The 2009 Corton-Renardes shows fabulous depth from start to finish. Kirsch, hard candy, wild flowers and spices are some of the many notes that jump from the glass. Rich and seductive, the Corton-Renardes presents a highly representative picture of the vintage in its flashiness. This is a decidedly ripe, opulent style, but it works.

Good dark red. Musky, leesy, soil-inflected aromas of red berries, fruity peppercorn, baked bread and earth. Rich and concentrated but quite closed today, with dominant flavors of resiny oak and warm brown spices (cinnamon!). More about soil than primary fruit, but this dry, rather powerful wine has the stuffing and spine to reward eight to ten years of cellaring.
Pale crimson. Very sweet start. Very fine and polished. Lots of spice and flattery. Much more serous than most Cortons. Lots of energy. (JR)
